In short, he really likes Monkey Ball. |

That was pretty sweet.
I was thinking. If a Jedi fought a ninja, the Jedi would win because the ninja would try to do that "jumping on the sword" thing and end up in pieces. |

Hey guys, maybe this should have been self-evident, but lightsaber duels really don't work as well when you watch them without sound. Which I had to do because I am in a public library.
That was pretty cool, though. |

That was really good! It looks like the guys are actually swinging for kill-shots and blocking them, instead of the noisy clanging three feet away at arm's length that most homemade sword/staff/saber fights are. I would have liked to see some sparks and stuff when the blades hit the ground, and it was weird that the dude just dropped the saber into his pocket at the end. But it was very well done! |

How pathetic is this...I'm actually responding...
Watching how powerful Vader becomes between ep. IV and VI is really watching the last remnants of Ye Olde Republic finally disintigrate. The Senate was dissolved offscreen in SW, but the military was still fairly independent, with a highly trained, well educated, and professional officer corps. But that degrades too as Vader personally (in TESB) eliminates those officers that don't see/do things his way. Heaven help us if that happens to our officer corps...
As for that dial thing, I always thought it was a (badly designed) targeting device)
As for the Luke vs Vader vs Emperor scene, I agree that the attempted corruption of Luke was botched in almost every way. For example, it took 10+ years to turn Anakin into Vader, and that still only really happened after a particularly painful series of events (seen as betrayals) compounded by grave physical injury at the hands of a mentor. Not once did they try to paint themselves positively. Not once did they try to convince Luke that his friends were "the bad guys". The only card they tried to play was an offer of power, which was nowhere close to hitting Luke's motivations.
I submit that the Emperor was really just trying to keep Vader. He might have sensed parts of the old Anakin trying to surface, so he played along with Vader's idea in order to manipulate him into confronting and killing his own son. This could both eliminate competition and ensure Vader's loyalty.
However, he was overconfident (and probably treading in uncharted territory) at the end when he attacked Luke. Once Luke "proved" that he could/would not be turned (expected), and it also became clear that Vader was going to lose the battle (unexpected), he should have incapacitated Luke (if necessary), had him taken to a holding cell and arrange for him to die while trying to escape.
Keep in mind, though, that the Star Wars series would never stand up to any serious examination for issues or lessons. It teaches all the wrong ones. |

Matzebrei, turn that penchant for unnecessary analysis and rationalization towards examining the contradictions in Dinosaur Comics canon, and you will truly be a dude (or dudette, replace as appropriate) after my own heart.
EDITED because I cannot spell a name that is right there in front of me for pete's sake! |

Hey, there's difficult and then there's impossible. I wouldn't even know where to start with Dinosaur Comics, except maybe looking for subtle differences in the panel artwork over time. |

heheh I actually have a huge-normous poster circa-1995 that says "Everything I know in life I learned from watching Star Wars", and it has stuff like "Let the Wookiee win". It's currently sleeping behind a giant-sized version of that "Killroy hunting Poptarts" poster, which normally would be a travesty but I mean come on I made Killroy dudes!
DKL I checked with my friend Jon yesterday and he is adequately monkey balled at this time. |
