Anyone notice in Twenty Years to Midnight they play a Zelda sound whenever somebody finds an item?

This is the Venture Bros. thread okay? I do believe it basically picks up the fuckin-yeah where Futurama set it down.

Guys, I'm just getting into this show because I watched the very first episode when it first aired and was like, "Blech. Ew. Grodie."

But I've checked it out this season because I heard I was wrong and that it is good, and plus Brendan Small, Jon Benjamin and Stephen Colbert stop by to do voices and that is like hanging a sign out front saying "Steve, give this show a chance, OK?"

I'd say I currently like it but still think it's hit or miss and misses a lot more than I'd like. But when it's funny it's really funny and who knows maybe it'll click with me eventually and I'll write on page 16 of this thread about how I was crazy way back on page 1.

justin the audio on my computer kind of sucks and i have to watch new episodes online cuz i don't currently have cartoon network, so i couldn't actually understand anything the inquistor said that wasn't yelling.

steve, the whole second half of the first season is platinum and diamonds. Ghosts of the Sargasso is a great one. Mid-life Chrysalis is also a very good episode.

The pilot is very weak, Steve. It took me a couple-maybe-three months to like the show because I tuned it out after that first ep, and even on the Deevee-D I only really watched the pilot like once for the commentary.

The baber did you get the concept of the Inquisitor? That he was measuring Humanity and what should happen to it?

I guess I have two problems with the show. One is that the writing can be sort of Family Guy-style lazy. Like, in the last episode, they take a golden opportunity to do something really creative and funny with Johnny Quest and then they just do the lame crazy-drug addict bit which is probably like the first thing they thought of in the writer's room. That kind of thing bugs me. The other thing is that I like my unlikeable characters to be likeable (like, say, the Bluths or Seinfeld). I find the Venture family to be mostly creepy which puts me off a bit.

But the Inquistor and about half of the Fantastic Four stuff was great, and, like I said, maybe it'll click for me eventually.

Haha I just remembered the scene where the on-fire guy is actually just a guy who is on fire and how funny that was.

I really need to watch more of this show.

Steve it is sort of like the Bluth Family in that they're endearing in their jackassness once you've seen the show in its entirety but when you see a single ep out of sequence, you're just like "Wow, what a bunch of pricks I don't care for!".

Interesting. I guess I should rent season one or something.

See the thing is Dr. Rusty Venture, sort of "What if Johnny Quest all grown up and is a lesser scientist than his dad", is also a pill-popper because he was never good enough for his perfect scientist dad, and needs the pills to stop his dad from appearing in mid-air to malign him for things. So there's probably some plans for this parallel later on.

Nono, I get that, which makes it all the more lame for me. Unless you're right and they go on to do something interesting with it. But right now it's just like, "Wouldn't it be totally crazy if Johnny Quest grew up to be a hallucinating heroin addict?" and I'm like "No, that would be obvious and boring and mostly not funny."

Guys, I was looking at a previous post and wondered if people are going to the video store to get the movie Rent if they say "I'm going to rent Rent" and their friends go "When did you start stuttering?" and they'd go "B-but I don't have a -- heeeey! You guys!" and they'd all laugh and laugh.

Right?

that's pretty funny steve

Anyway I know, I've giving them a heavy benefit of the doubt here. But there's been a really strong Futurama-style vibe with this, where some little tidbit has come back later on as a masthead plotline, ya know?

Steve, you should make a movie called The Movie: The Movie. Make it in law school by tricking all the law students into thinking they're making Monty Python sketches then lock the door.

Shouldn't it be called A Movie? Surely saying "Hay guys do you want to rent The Movie" would arouse much more suspicion?

I haven't watched Venture Brothers in a while. Has season 2 started yet?

Guys, do they have this Venture Brothers show on anything that doesn't involve cable TV? Because I don't have that. I think I saw one episode of it at a friend's, and it was kinda eh. I don't even remember what happened in it.

That website uses some kind of crazy plugin I guess I don't have. Guys, why can't companies just put things on the internet in nice simple ways for everybody else to get at them?

On a Mac get Flip4Mac WMV and the latest QuickTime update instead of Media Player. Note that its performance on Intel Macs is kind of crappy, but IIRC it rocks on older Macs.

there are probably some episodes on this website i heard about, i think it is called u-toobz.net? the u is like "you" and toobz is like "boob toob" and the net means it is on the internet which is a place you can use to find information such as pirated episodes of the venture brothers!

I have Flash. I don't have Media Player 9, because I haven't ever updated Media Player, because when you do, it digs its unholy tentacles into all the crevices of your computer. I guess I could probably get at the movie by view source and open it in another media player that can play .wmvs, but that's too much work.

Guys, the Monarch is one of the funniest characters ever put to anything.
The Can you read my mind bit: GOLD.

A friend of mine and I have been punctuating all our conversation over the last few days with:

IGNORE ME!!!
