Antisolipsism is such a backwardly ridiculously idea. It reminds me of that bit in Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy about the babelfish being proof of the non-existence of god. |

I knew a guy who actually attempted to use that argument for reals.

B-but it entirely depends on babelfish being for reals which they're not!
Unless you mean he adapted it to some other "impossibly unlikely" natural entity? |

He's more interested in using the backblast as a flamethrower. He is a dragon after all! |

That's alright, if you had detailed technical knowledge of an RPG we would be QUITE SUSPICIOUS. |

Me too, and for just a bit I was having a real hard time figuring out how guns represent role playing games. P: |

I just had an antisolipsist-inspired idea for a TV show. (err... Some dude just imagined me having an idea?)
Introducing each episode, there would be a brief voiceover:
In the entire world, only one person is real. The rest of us are just figments of his imagination. My quest is to find this person... and kill him.
It is full of both episodic and long-term juicy storytelling potential!
For example:
Is the main character actually the one real person?
Is he just crazy?
How can he tell if someone is real or not?
How does he know antisolipsism is "true"?
Why does he hate the world so much that he wants to (in effect) destroy it?
Why does the one real dude hate the world so much that he is imagining someone on a quest to kill him?
What is the nature of this reality -- is it, actually, a beautifully 4th-wall-breaking scenario where the character(s) of the TV show are trying to kill the show's creator / writer? |

This would make a good role playing game!
I can think of some awesome endings involving blank deserts and interested aliens holding clipboards taking notes. |

The main character, being a figment of the real person's imagination, would be under the control of the solipsist, who evidently has a death wish or some psychological issues. So, there's that. Thing. |

This thread just goes to illustrate how ridiculously stupid actual solipsists are, because hey pal, seeing as you're IMAGINING the frickin' universe into existence and all, why not make it a better one where you're rich and famous and there really are dragons with guns that parachute down from the sky. They could be your own personal army and defend you as you ride down from your sparkly rainbow kingdom on your unicorn to have tea with the nymphs in the forest who incidentally are all madly in love with you. |

I'm seriously stoked / weirded out about it. I love that I can imagine something and even if I can't make it happen myself, it can still maybe happen! |
