According to the half hour of Poseidon I saw in the hotel, they like really sucky undersea adventures where things happen for no reason except to be stupid. |

But that was an almost undersea adventure.
A star-studded almost undersea adventure.
The kids would've dug it if it was a totally undersea adventure, like Thunderball or Never Submerge Again or Swimshortbubble or whatever that Bond movie was called. |

No I am not talking about The Abyss
You'll know when I'm talking about The Abyss because I'll say, "You know what movie blows? The Abyss movie blows." |

Guys, I know the HBO Family discussion is two to three pages back but still I have to say:
If you ever have access to HBO Family the number one thing that you have to do is watch an episode of Crashbox. It is an educational show but for older, smarter grade school to middle school kids, it teaches stuff like multiplication, logic puzzles, and SAT vocabulary. Instead of overwhelming you with saccharine cutestyness it has things like a chronically exploding revolting slob muppet, a sketch pad beatnik, and a claymation Rastafarian submarine pilot. |

Poker is easier to follow. Most people don't know how to play baccarat. Most people don't know what it is, and most who do either know it because of Bond or because of an episode of Pinky and the Brain where their place for foolish people who don't want their money anymore failed because nobody knows how to play baccarat. |

The only Bond movie I have ever seen or will see is the Philippino movie For Y'ur Height Only, which isn't actually about James Bond at all. |

So I guess I saw the last twenty minutes or so of Cannonball Run II in a hotel last night. (It was on HBO Family.) I knew there would be Burt Reynolds and Dom Deluise and I even knew there'd be Scott Baio. I didn't necessarily expect Dean Martin and Abe Vigoda to show up, but it made sense once I saw them. But Telly Savalas as a gangster? Ricardo Montalban as a shiek? Richard Kiel as anything? And I am just scratching the surface here.
How the heck did a movie like this ever get made? It's like this it was written and cast by a bunch of fourth graders at a sleepover and then somehow magically turned into reality by a wishing well or something. |

I mean fourth graders from 1984. There is not a fourth grader on earth today who even knows who Dom Deluise is, let alone Abe Vigoda or Telly Savalas. |

Also when obviously-wasted-by-the-ravages-of-time Dean Martin makes jokes about being an alcoholic, it is sad and not funny at all. |

Don't worry B, ain't no way he remembered making that movie.
Also, does that one have Tony Danza and the monkey in it? For some reason, Cannonball Run I and II sort of run together for me. |

Actually, there's a good chance that the person who I thought was Scott Baio was actually Tony Danza. They're both in the movie, but if Danza is the one with the monkey then that's the one I meant.
In my defense, it was late at night and I was only half watching it and Italians all look alike anyway. |

I used to work with a guy and whenever he said something like, "Man where did the day go?" I would accuse him of calling me a dago. |

Man, so Cannonball Run II was on late last night and I DVR'd the last hour and fast forwarded through it today.
I'd say Jackie Chan and Frank Sinatra (as himself) took me most by suprise. That and the fact that it appears they forgot to write a script for the movie.
I liked the two hot chicks in jumpsuits though. Rrrrrrowww. |

Oh hey as long as I am posting intermittantly today, I also forgot to mention a few weeks ago that I saw Michael Cera on Conan I think? And that he talked about some Internet show he does? And he also talked about the Superbad movie he's in? But he never once mentioned Arrested Development. Neither did Conan. What is up with that? Why did that happen?
It seriously felt like I was living in an alternate universe where there never was any Arrested Development and it was kind of weird and unsettling. |

But usually they'll be like, "Michael Cera has a new movie coming out -- you may remember him as George Michael Bluth on Arrested Development."
This was much more like, "Michael Cera has a new movie coming out -- I guess he is some kid from the Internet or something?" |

His Internet thing is GREAT, by the way. It takes a few episodes to get going and find it's rhythm, but brother once it does, whoo boy, it is funny. |
