Since there's a number of you gents and maybe even some girls who do the music thing here on T&BB I was totally wondering/curious/hopeful that you guys might consider trying your hand at some song covers? I'd really like to live vicariously through your musical abilities, and maybe I'll post a really bad acapella version of something? Whatevers!

So! Maybe one of you could cover "I Am The Walrus"? Or "Hush" from Deep Purple?

I can't do either of those.

But, if you'd like, I can try and get a bongos-and-electric guitar cover of "You Really Got Me" by the Kinks to you in the next few days.

Ooh! The Kinks... I'm partial to "Most Exclusive Residence For Sale".

OBVIOUSLY DOING ANYTHING IS AWESOME.

do bootleg remixes count? I once cut up Elvis Costello's "Allison" into a bossa nova D&B track...

My myspace page still has my rendition of The Stooges "I Wanna Be Your Dog", which I kind of turned into some kind of industrial-techno thing, and sadly now lost to the ages is my somewhat-Ween-inspired version of "Vertigo" by U2,. though I do still have a short kazoo/desktapping/vocal rendition of "War Pigs" around, if anyone would want to hear that.

I never did anything for that other cover thread, maybe I will now.

Here is a beat-boxed version of the first verse from "Straight Outta Compton":

http://www.thojit.kundor.org/comptondone1.mp3

Here is a cover of Moby's "God Moving over the face of the Water" using animal impressions:

Both are old, but hopefully that will tide you over till I get back to you.

Well I played "You Really Got Me" about 13 times, and every time the dynamics on the chords were utter shit. So I recorded a ridiculously sludgy version to compensate for not being able to press down on the strings hard enough, and then deleted that because I'd added a lengthy experimental noise passage in lieu of a solo. So I'll try again on the weekend.

So the other day I decided to just turn on the top 40 radio station and try to cover whatever happened to be on at that exact moment, so by that logic I guess I'm going to have to put together something approximating "Umbrella" by Rhianna.

A good song to cover would be "Watch you Disappear" by Tom Waits, since it's mostly spoken-word and you could basically through any crap in for the backing track as long as it was sad, slow lacked a beat.

Apparently Kundor and YouSendIt both hate me, so I've put my keyboard versions of both "You've been flirting again" and "Communist daughter" on my MySpace.

Sometimes people forget kundor is a person with feelings, and not just a hosting service.

So yeah, that Tom Waits song actually does have a melody in the form of that calliope thing in the background, but I could go and do "The Ocean Doesn't Want Me Today" instead.
