Has anyone ever run away from home due to psychological distress, a simple desire to add meaning to m-- uh, one's meaningless life, and/or to mourn the loss of a best friend? How'd it go, or would you recommend the experience?
This is a cheerful topic. Believe it. |

I have no experience with this topic, however, I'm pretty confident you can do all you mentioned while still staying home. That doesn't mean you shouldn't do it though
Except one time I fell in love with this guy and lost touch with him for a few months and when I tried to contact him again he'd run away from home and no one knew where he was or how to get ahold of him :( |

I don't understand why you would run away to mourn the loss of your best friend, unless this friend was a runaway??
anyway, would you have somewhere to stay, or would you be living the hobo life?
If it's the hobo life, Dave can give you some serious tips, like what kind of stuff to bring with you. |

Seriously, even one of these would be too much. If you're going through all three at once, my honest advice is to talk to a psychiatrist, or some kind of support group. I think that's what I would do. |

I tried to in my younger years, but never got far. However, in doing so I've discovered that the simple act of walking is quite therapeutic. |

I doubt anyone's in love with me. But I don't know. The losing a best friend thing, well, the best friend didn't die. That would kill me on the spot, I think. And the psychological stress thing was just an extraneous example.
Hm.
Anyway, I think Ryan is awesome and Joey and Emily are my heroes in life.
Also, I hereby request topic deletion! |

Now I will never see a Naruto preview without chuckling, then kind of throwing up a little bit. |

Oneironaut, don't run away from home. I am of the opinion that young'uns should have shelter and maybe food and safety. |

But I'm 16 or older!
Hahah. I'm not really ready to explain my reasoning yet, even though I briefly outlined like three of them. And I doubt I'd have the balls to do it right now, especially after having talked to someone about it.
But King Carl, I saw a quote of yours and would to set it as my signature. And now that you showed me that thread, I understand the baber's post above.
EDIT: Also Katie, I love your boa-constrictor digesting an elephant dinosaur. The guy that drew that also wrote the current quote in my signature. |

I just read a book about a Chinese guy that ran away from his job and just travelled around China for a few years living off his wits (and sometimes dying off his stupidity). It's pretty inspiring what he did, and made me want to do something similar. Drift around the states for a year after I get out of college, trying to make it on my own.
Also there are these kids that hang out on St. Mark's Place in Manhattan and in Tomkins Square Park all the time. Sometimes they have a dog with them. They always seem to be having a jolly good time. |
