Remember when that dude Brew came here and posted his comic and basically everyone argued with him that his comic is pretty much reprehensible?
Apparently, it's only gotten worse since then. |

I skimmed a few of the recent ones and yeah, still bad, but I did like the one about the mailman. |

Your Webcomic is Bad and You Should Feel Bad just ripped it to shreds. It's pretty much their first review that hasn't prompted some reader to defend the comic. |

Going postal is indeed pretty good... I guess that's because it's the only one that doesn't really tell you anything about the personality of the author? |

I wouldn't say that specific strip is "good" so much as it is "not as offensive to the brain as the rest of the archives." I mean, the joke is just "the postal service is awkward and dated." |

Yeah, if the whole comic was like the mailman one, it would be an OK comic with pretty all right art.
Which would obviously be way better, but then again is mediocrity worse than being really bad? Probably not. |

It's a tough call. I'd say this comic is extremely mediocre, which is a tough place to be because there's nothing memorable enough to make people come back either way. I think the authors either consciously or subconsciously know this, so they try to be as vulgar and graphic as they can to create an identity. This sort of strategy reminds me of a 13 year old who uses more profanity and starts smoking in front of the high school kids to appear more mature.
If a comic is bad, really bad, then it can at least reach Marmaduke or Boston & Shaun levels of infamy, and in these cases the creators are so oblivious to outside criticisms that they'll keep on trucking in their own little world. Mediocrity won't get you any attention at all though, and I think with these guys they'd rather be hated than ignored, which helps explain the "edginess."
Well, either that or they just have no ideas. |

Unwinder, would you mind if I linked that earlier thread on his blog (probably the nerdiest thing I've ever said)?
There's even more reason to hate this guy than Solomon knows. |

i actually really disliked Lilith's review here. as horrible and loathsome as this comic was she just didnt seem to have Ted or Solomon's hatred for its creator -and- subject matter. |

Holy shit. I have to revise my stance on CAD. CAD is mildly bad compared to this comic. This is the particular strip that sapped my will to be snarky about CAD, because I just think to myself, "It could have been so much worse" |

I thought the review was pretty bad, also.
A review that is based mostly on outrage doesn't really qualify as valid criticism in my book, even if (as in this case) I agree with the reviewer.
Not to mention that the creators of this comic are clearly the kind of people who thrive on inciting outrage, and will pathetically wear any criticism and accusations they receive as badges of triumph. |

Wait, what? It's not valid to criticize something because it's morally reprehensible? |

In this case, it's probably like telling a third-grader to stop doing something because it's annoying. He'll just make even more crappy webcomics. |

That doesn't mean that being annoying isn't a valid criticism. |

Pretty much every webcomics forum I've frequented this week has a thread about how bad this comic is and so everybody goes to this comic and so it seems like a pretty good idea to be dicks I guess. |

Assuming that you can take people who clicked on a "Look how crappy this comic is!" link and turn them into fans, then yup! |

I agree with Oscar Wilde that art can be neither moral nor immoral--it can only be well-crafted or poorly-crafted. Of course, that doesn't mean that misogyny isn't immoral, so if we're criticizing the actions of the authors as individuals for being misogynistic, fine. But I'm not interested in the authors or their moral caliber, I'm interested in webcomics, and I was disappointed about how little time the critic spent outlining the exceedingly poor craftsmanship exhibited in this comic, particularly in the writing. |
