why, when people started bringing up the idea of replacing characters in the strip (i.e. switching Jon for Conan) was the obvious never suggested or attempted? namely, replacing Garfield with a picture of President Garfield. I'm not sure how well this would work in practice, and I don't have the graphics editing know-how to attempt it, but it looks pretty hilarious in my own mind at least...

They shouldn't do it, because you (and some bunch of people you claim to represent) find it old? Welcome to the world of different tastes in humour.

It's a forum with free registration, it's not like they're invading your private sandbox. And I imagine they're doing it in only this one thread, leaving alone the rest of the forum, where you can continue whatever you were doing. I don't think these "invaders" really care about you or your laggy elitist forum so much that they'd want to be a part of it. If seeing the topic header is too much for you, just block it. Or is your fancy forum too primitive for that?

This thread has me laughing with tears. I read a lot of Garfield as a kid and this is simply amazing. I would buy a book of Garfields with the thought bubbles taken out in a heartbeat.
