I wish all the comics had Mitch Hedberg jokes at the end.

Buckley is having his self-insertion declare that nobody else in his life matters to him, not even his closest "friends"

The levels of meta are astounding me

haha I love this guy

I'm assuming he's not real, he makes the same post in a different thread too

Quote:
This story arc has been, without hyperbole, the greatest work produced on the web to date. The story is so well crafted and authentic and entertaining that I think it should be held up in honor for bridging webcomics and art. Tim's unique art style somehow makes the character's expressions exceptionally humanistic...

one of you maybe? I don't read their message board, maybe it's a real person

Tim Buckley is like a modern Albrecht Duhrer.

I'm really hoping that Ethan's crushing defeat in the soon-to-ensue gaming contest will cause him to reflect on his nightmarish failure of a life. This sudden burst of clarity will cause him to go mad with self-loathing, and kill everyone he knows, ending with himself. It will make up for some of the rest of CAD.

I'm pretty sure I've already advocated Ethan's eventual murder-suicide, but now's as good a time as any for Buckley to get that story rolling.

CAD HATE COMMENTS WITHOUT ANY HYPERBOLE IN THEM

I just read the last couple of weeks worth, and I was literally driven to mild disapproval over Ethan suddenly attaining all of his dreams.

I wish I could just go up to Tim Buckley right now and tell him that it didn't really work for me, but that it's maybe just not my thing.

It made me want to navigate away from the website and then tell someone that I didn't like it.

M-maybe Unwinder really is feeling that apathetic towards CAD? I mean, he mentioned that he got through his hate of gamer comics through PUC.

(Speaking of such, Unwinder, did you put up that election PUC? I know you got pretty tired of it after a while, but I really wanted to see that comic go up.

I'm sorry if the comic is too sophisticated for you to understand it, TSO.

I'll hold your hand through this comic if you need it.

Firstly, the title. The comic is called "empty house" but there is clearly someone inside it. This symbolizes how no matter what we think we are all about, we are really empty inside.

I won't bore you with the obvious Biblical overtones of a clean-shaven man desperately searching for Lilah (clearly a reference to Sampson and Delilah). But I will point out that Lilah is also a reference to the Hindu concept of Lila. The implications of this reference are not as obvious, since Buckley isn't actually using the traditional Hindu view of the concept, but rather the specific interpretation popularized by Wendy Doniger. It seems like a bit of a stretch, but Buckley has on numerous occasions shown himself to be sympathetic to Doniger's work.

I think this is what really makes the final panel. The man gets down on both knees in the classical position to pray and curse God. But in this age of emptiness and technology, the only direction left to look is down. But that too is futile. This is also the pose that Ravana took before Ram killed him in the Doordarshan adaptation of the Ramayana, but this might be strictly a coincidence.

I guess if you didn't get all that the comic might not have been that funny, but that isn't really Buckley's fault, is it?
