Also Urkel is wearing a Western Cowboy outfit, he looks even more out of place than you'd think he'd look on an old pirate ship

What is the black guy from the Drew Carey Show doing on the pirate ship? Just what history is this sitcom following?

Steve drank some rum and then spit it back in a pirate's face. And the pirate didn't kill him. WHAT THE FUCK, HOLLYWEIRD

I always liked the episode where Steve and Carl take a potion which transforms them both into unstoppable Bruce Lee clones, and use their new abilities to defeat a horde of angry longshoremen.

Also good: the episode where Steve and Carl travel forward in time, Carl uses this trip to cheat on the lottery, and the pair somehow wind-up in a possible future where the Winslows live in a penthouse apartment, own Chicago, and have a woman in a bodystocking posed on a plinth as a piece of living art.

Do you remember the episode where Steve accidentally shrunk himself and Carl down to the size of ants and they were stuck on the kitchen island? OR WHEN STEVE WENT INTO OUTER SPACE?

Laura just sword-fought three buccaneers single-handedly, Kill Bill-style. I do not think this is realistic

I didn't see either of those episodes, regrettably. I do remember the episode where Steve forced Carl to take a ballooning trip as a way of combating his acrophobia, only to have Carl fall out of the balloon. Not really the same thing, but there you are.

I liked the episode where Eddie cheats on an exam, and learns a valuable lesson.

Remember when Eddie bought stolen speakers for his car and Carl made him turn them into the police and Eddie was like "I wish you were my father and not a cop"

Remember when Steve invented a nuclear weapon for the science fair and ended the world but then it was just a dream

Remember when Carl was stuck on the treadmill that was set to blow up if Carl stopped walking on it (and this was before Speed!)

Remember the awesomeness that was Lt. Murtaugh

The pirate episode was originally aired in 3D, btw.

I thought it was part of this thing where, because of something having to do with Sabrina the Teenage Witch, all the TGIF shows went back in time. But the dates on Wikipedia don't line-up, so.

It turns-out that despite having watched Sabrina the Teenage Witch all the damned time when I myself was a teenager, I haven't actually seen past the first few seasons - or at least, this seems to be the case, since I don't recall anything about Sabrina going to college or Zelda becoming a professor.

After the series was moved from ABC to the WB most people stopped watching it.

actual best family matters moment was when someone is thinking about names and they hypothesize that if ivannah trump married neil diamond, divorced him, married jack nicklaus, divorced him, then married john darling, her name would be:
Ivannah Diamond Nicklaus Darling.

That reminds me of that episode of the Nanny where Fran and Val are in a taxi with a gay cab driver and they all start reciting Elizabeth Taylor's various last-names in perfect unison.

Actually that may have been more than one episode.

Are these real Family Matters episodes, for serious? Because I don't remember that at all.

I remember one where somebody had a gun and maybe brought it to school or something? And after the episode all the cast members gave a PSA about guns?

Oh my god, when they replaced the old Mrs. Winslow with a new actress and never lost a single word on that fact .. was that weird or what?

btw the guy who does the voice acting for Urkel in the German version is the same one who does Spongebob and Steve Buscemi. They all sound the same Smile

Also, they had a lot of "very special episodes". At the end, Jaleel White would take off his glasses and address the viewers, like "We sure had a good laugh today, but we want to inform you about a serious issue: racial profiling / bone marrow / pirates..." Crying or Very sad
