I noticed my fridge was particularly interesting today, so I took a photo. Here it is:

hella good I've got that shit nailed down. It's really easy to make and there are so many things you can do with it. All you need is a little food processor. |

This is a recipe that I made and it's v. tasty I promise. Drain one can of chickpeas. There's a thick syrup sometimes so just fill the can with water and drain them again. Chop them up in a food processor. A blender will work but takes a lot longer. Once it's pureed well just scoop it all out and put it into a bowl or tupperware. I like leaving it somewhat mulchy so it's got a little character.
Now mix in the following:
2 Tbsp olive oil
2 tsp lemon juice
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp oregano
half a head of roasted garlic
At this point you can stop and it will be tasty but I suggest adding:
2 tsp sesame oil
1 tsp red pepper flakes
a little more than 1/8 tsp chili powder.
Even though you're adding in red pepper and chili powder, it won't be hot, so don't worry if you don't like hot things. I also drizzled some chili-infused sesame oil over it to make it a little spicier.
You can obviously mess around with the flavors to your taste. The best part of hummus is that after you puree the chickpeas you can do whatever you want.
I'm not sure what the cost of that would be. Maybe $1.50 for the chickpeas and garlic. Plus the cost of the seasonings but i'm not sure how to account for that. |

you can make it without a food processor (or at least i do) but it'll be kind of lumpy (doesn't bother me) |
