i was thinking about photoshipping a ctrl-alt-del strip so the text was all even to the margins (get it?) but that seemed like a lot of work for a mediocre joke.

Also, today's CAD is bad on like 8 levels.

Lukas makes a reference to ethan's CRAZY filing system, which was also built up to a week ago, then never shown.

On top of that, the third panel and the fourth panel don't work together. People who have a knack for running a store are not people who are likely to take a chainsaw to the gas line, since that is not how you run a store.

Second and third panels, actually. He decided to merge the first two today, God knows why.

In addition to all that nonsense it reinforces the overwhelming stench of Mary Sue choking Ethan. See, we've never seen him running the store well, or doing ANYTHING to bring in customers, or anything. We've seen him panicking, firing everyone, burning papers (his filing system, guys, was to torch the paperwork. That was Buckley's good idea.), and losing his sanity. Then, apparently, despite all that, it turns out he's a great manager anyway. WHAT?!

And then why the hell is Lucas okay with this? He has every reason to hate Ethan, and every reason to resent being the underling of a grossly incompetent, dangerously insane manchild. He's working in a field he doesn't like, with a person who's physically dangerous to him, in a job where he's the only remotely competent person surrounded by totally friggin' insane retards. And he's like "Yeah, whatever, I'll just roll with this."

Would it be THAT hard for Ethan to just, you know, find NEW EMPLOYEES? Do we HAVE to just bring all the characters into the same comic because writing a new guy is SO HARD?

Oh, right, because Ethan is psychotic and drives away anyone resembling a normal human being who might actually be able to help.

The "chainsaw gas line" crap is just an obvious attempt at character humor, because doing stuff that endangers and likely kills dozens of people around him IS completely consistent with what Ethan does all the time, especially since he's become even more exaggeratedly "comedically" violently incompetent. It's the "he's actually quite good at running a store" stuff that's an informed attribute.

Why does Buckley think this stuff is funny?
