I just finished reading it this afternoon. I have mixed feelings about it!
For instance, JKR has totally murdered the word "surreptitiously" for me. SIX TIMES IN ONE BOOK IS FIVE TIMES TOO MANY.
NOT THAT I WAS COUNTING
And the ending was very sad and also frustrating. It made me not want to read the last book, although I'm not entirely sure why. |

Surreptitiously is perfectly normal word. Why shouldn't she use it whenever it's appropriate? |

What Rowling does do that I've noticed (not so much in this one) is use the word "bracingly" a lot. I mean, it's a perfectly good word, but in some of the books it's repeated far more than is typical and I notice it. And when you notice words it takes you out of the narrative flow and you're thinking about the writing rather than the content!
I MEAN WHO SAYS BRACINGLY, SERIOUSLY |

I will *personally* send J.K.R. hate mail if she kills off Harry.
I'll be like "OH NO YOU DI-INT!"

Sirius Black was so much better than Harry. Lupin was my favourite, though.
If you can't tell, I liked the third book the best. |

Timothy Zahn writes good books, but his characters spend a lot of time saying things "dryly." Sometimes I'm like "MAYBE YOU SHOULD GET A GLASS OF WATER HEY" |

I liked Harry in this book a lot better! He isn't all over emotional again, which was annoying. Also for whatever reason Ginny is my favorite character even though she is way lacking in character development. |

I would say that most of the time it wasn't all that appropriate. Sometimes it felt wrong. Also all six were used within the first half of the book. It felt like the word was stuck in her head and she couldn't think of any others. That happens to me sometimes. But when I do it I go back and fix it up later.
Besides me getting fixated on that one word and not noticing anything else, I did actually quite like the book. At first I thought I was underwhelmed but I've now come to terms with the fact that I enjoyed reading it. Although admittedly after I finished I did say "Sucks." out loud. And then "I'm not reading the next one."
I think that was more to do with the direction the story's now heading in....

Sometimes not ending sentences in adverbs is difficult. |

I meant proposition of course! Gah.
The sad thing is, I came back online once I realised what I'd said, solely to correct that mistake.
I think I need a new hobby. Maybe something outdoor-sy. |

Trying to bait Stannis did not work nearly as well as I had hoped!
WHERE AM I TO GET MY STRIFE NOW
WHERE
Also, if that Harry = Horcrux theory is right it would be kind of great! Terrible, but great! Terribly great. |

Did Voldemort ever actually properly try to kill Harry? I actually would like to know, I wasn't really playing attention while I was reading books one through four.
BECAUSE IF HE DIDN'T...!
I kind of hope Harry will die at the end, not because I don't like him, but just because if he doesn't there'll be so much pressure on JKR to write follow-up books. And that would be sad. |

--------SPOILERIFIC!--------
Yup. With the killing curse, which only Harry has survived. It seems it rebounded on Big V, killing him (or would have, if not for the Horcruxes)

Bah, people will want books in the same universe anyways, and rightly so. It's all so fun and magical! |

Kier, I think Voldemort properly tried to kill him at the end of the fourth book when he transported him over by having him touch the trophy. The had a "fight" which was really them just sending beads to each other on a string of light between their wands. |

He also sort of tried to kill him with the snake in book two, but that was dumb little Tom Riddle who may not have known what he was doing. |

He didn't have anything to do with the third book. Maybe that's why I liked it the best? |

Was he really trying to kill him in Book 4? Or just extract the soul-bit that was sitting in him? Which probably involves killing, of course!
EH?
Was he really using the killing curse on Harry when he was a baby? Or inserting part of his SOUL, a process which suddenly went terribly wrong? All the killing-curse stuff is mere hearsay and speculation on the part of the wizarding community! Everyone who was there died except Voldemort, after all.
That would explain all the "Harry has Voldemortish traits and can feel what he's feeling" far better than the "mystical connection because he tried to kill you" claptrap. |

Everyone except Voldemort and Harry who was just a baby and thus not capable of understanding or anything, sheesh!
I mean, c'mon, babies aren't people. |
