Oh, that is an element, to be sure. But the skirt is what really sets it off.
I'm not kidding. Girls, dress in Japanese schoolgirl uniforms and I will declare you hot.

Schoolgirl skirts... how... cliche.
-Also: HOTT
...oh ok, that too.
Also: am I the only one that likes tartan skirts? |

Hey! Leave my students alone!
Those uniforms are so hopelessly ugly. I will never understand what people like about them. And the obsession with those skirts is just as gross as an obsession with tight, short skirts, IMO. Especially when on students!
(I think, too, that perhaps it's more tempting because it's loose? Eh? Glimpses of things?)
Tartan skirts, if they're real tartan, are pretty cool. Itchy, though!
(Faid, I think it's also due to a lack of shorts-wearing people in Greece--when those guys see someone wear shorts it's just so shocking that they can't help but yell. I was told not to wear them but it was a bajillion degrees outside!)
As for how short is too short, I think you can get to mid-thigh with an a-line skirt and it's still ok. Miniskirts are mid-thigh and above for me...anything above mid-thigh is just too racy! Butt cheeks hanging out>>hobag! |

Don't worry, it wasn't your fault. Creeps are everywhere, and there's no lady that hasn't had a simillar experience on a summer day here, regardless of her outfit.
Besides:

...You're way more conservative in dressing than your average Greek girl!
As for uniforms... Don't know 'bout ugly, but they're just plain silly. I mean, look at the neckties!
Can't say exactly why they are supposed to be appealing... Maybe it's the socks. |

That's just the thing, though--they're NOT supposed to be appealing. They're supposed to a. designate them as girls and b. make the wearer unattractive and look just like everyone else.
Part of the problem is that the girls have the skirts made really short because it's the cool thing to do; those skirts are supposed to be knee-length. Then their legs get cold (and god forbid they wear tights with the uniform--I've seen one girl do it ever in the middle of winter), thus the socks. I speculate that the knee socks/skirt combo is attractive because it frames the legs.
(As for Greek women in Kolonaki, all I have to say is cameltoe. I certainly didn't think the shorts thing was my fault, rather I meant that I shouldn't have been surprized.) |

I like the waitresses at the local irish pub, they wear really nice mini-skirts.
But that seems to be the only place I like seeing them...perhaps it's because the waitresses there are all hot?
I should clarify: the waitresses wear really short miniskirts, but "regular" miniskirts I don't mind seeing at all. |

Maybe you think they are all hott 'cause you are high on the Kilkenny!
One time for Phys Ed class, we were supposed to divide in groups to make excersice routines with several accesories and then perform them.
One group of girls decided to perform theirs in mini-skirts. Of course, they were flunked out, so they had to re-do it. The teacher was genius, I tell you, genius! |

I just happen to like the looser skirts more than the tight ones, and I'm pretty sure it's not the panty shots that have suckered me in; as I've already stated, I like skirts to be long. I don't know, loose skirts always seem more elegant to me. |

I guess I just don't see the difference between short and tight and short and loose. Either one has inherent mischief involved! Both of them make me cringe.
I think some long fitted skirts can also be nice--pencil skirts totally rock. |

I think the defining factor for me is the type of girl that wears each. |

Well, absolutely. But I think there's a point no woman should cross.
Just like with spandex. |

A lot of people have the "miniskirt=ho bag" thing, but I don't care enough to deal with that. I used to wear more clothes when I was around guys I liked, but I'm not stupid like that anymore. I don't dress to impress the other people in my life, and if they think I'm a ho bag, they can deal with it. I wear what I like and then a little extra to keep myself out of jail. I think wearing more clothes to make boys like you is just as dumb as doing the opposite.
Long fitted skirts are too hard to move in! I have one I love, and I wear it to work but most of the time it's just too much trouble. |
