In the end she got mad at me, because I wanted to get her something other than t-shirts, since all she owns is t-shirts, and she doesn't own anything else. I thought something fashionable or strange or different would look nice on her.
But that's not why she's mad, she's mad because she got what she wanted and so she felt bad about it, and convinced herself that I was upset that she got what she wanted.
And now we're not talking to each other. Again...
The power one is actually one she doesn't know she's getting. I thought if she was going to have a t-shirt, it might as be one that looks cool. |

Things can be arranged...
I'd like to add that it'll only be possible if your girlfriend is a tooth. |

Hmm, true.. let me fix it...
"She is crazy, but after the last breakup, I kind of realized I'm with her for life, until one of us dies."
The problem stems from the fact someone could say "I'm here for life" and not really mean it in the literal sense. |

The comma works, as it allows "until one of us dies" to act as emphasis (I think?). A semi-colon could work better, but I really don't know grammar all that well. |

Could a semi-colon work there? I don't think "until one of us dies" could be a sentence on its own, but I don't know much about grammar either. |

Semi-colons can also be used to tag on sentence fragments, can't they? |

If you have patience, here is an excellent essay on the history of punctuation and its traditional uses. It is from Fowler's, King's English, which many still consider the gold standard of English grammatical handbooks. Of course, English has evolved a lot from Fowler's day, but his guidelines are still pretty useful, as are his ruminations on the development of the English language.
The downside is that Fowler is not as funny or as a charming as Beth. |
