Also like here in America we create a strong national identity by shaming all of our immigrants out of their cultural heritages. (In the rare cases where immigrants actually have something good to offer -- like pizza or tacos -- we turn that thing into an American thing and sell it at fast food restaurants.) So if the EU really wants to be a power to be reckoned with and have a strong, cohesive identity of its own, then they should do more of this stuff and less of respecting each other's differences. |
