I made it up but I didn't think 40 was too bad? Oh well, I'd rather have better cardio because I can barely run a mile |

So I made fondue last night for my friend and myself and while it was probably counter productive it sure was delicious and I regret nothing |

we made brownies earlier this week (nothing special, one of those kits, it had m&m's in it), and we've been good re: not eating them all at once.
similarly no regrets, but we've also been good in keeping active. so huzzah! |

tell stefan to g t f o
anyway final weigh-in for the mini challenge, I didn't get to the 10 pound loss goal, but I think I did pretty well.
Weigh-in #1: 301.8 LBS, 50% body fat
Weigh-in #2: 301.6 LBS, 45% body fat
Weigh-in #3: 296.4 LBS, 47% body fat
So I lost in total 5.4 pounds, and 3% body fat between March 30 - April 26. Pretty good results! Going to keep doing this. |

I'm still doing this thing. I can't remember the last time I had a soft drink - that's good news because I always find that when I give up soft drinks it's the hardest thing to do. (I gave them up like 4 years ago and then well I started drinking them again)
Also haven't had any fast food in weeks, mostly because we have no extra money but also because we just bought a ton of groceries so that we'd have enough food to make plenty of meals. We still have a couple of pork chops I've been eyeing, was hoping to have some tonight on the BBQ but it's kind of rainy
anyway weighed myself this morning and I'm down to 294, but my goal for this month is anywhere in the 285-290 range. As in, I'll be happy if I can get down to 290 but really happy if I get as low as 285. |

Ugh I lost like a single pound
I'M NOT GIVING UP THOUGH
I switched to diet soda some years ago but I never drank soda that much to begin with so I guess it wasn't too big a deal for me. |

I think diet drinks are okay because they're not really full of sugar also they have zero calories
people say that the sweetners give you cancer but I'm not really sure that's proven? |

Artificial sweeteners can also train your body to associate sweet flavors with zero calories, which can make it more likely that you may overindulge on sweets that DO have calories but oh well nothing is perfect. |

They also cause "increased appetite", which is either:- the fact that you've consumed zero calories leaves you still hungry, OR
- a roundabout way of describing the thing Boorishly's talking about

well honestly if I'm drinking a soft drink / soda / pop / whatever you'd like to call it, it's probably with a meal so I'm eating other things that will fill me up
I rarely drink pop on its own these days |

I thought the thing about artificial sweeteners is like--with Splenda at least--they took the sugar molecule and flipped it, so it's right-handed instead of left-handed. I have been out of school too long to remember precisely what that means, but because everything on earth with rare exception is left-handed, we process right-handed things different. So Splenda is still sugar and tastes sweet, but our body ignores it, and supposedly if you eat too much it'll mess up your insulin regulation or whatever and that's why people think it can give you the ol' diabeetus.
I think. |

Ugh if Splenda really is bizarro sugar then that would definitely explain why it tastes foul instead of delicious. |

I especially hate how supermarkets are now reducing their stock of unsweetened products and replacing them with "no sugar added" varieties that are sweetened with Splenda instead. More than once I have bought oatmeal or fruit cups or something only to realize too late that the food company decided that since I don't want a bunch of sugar that must mean I want chemical turds instead.
HOW FRIGGIN HARD IS IT TO JUST ADD SOME NUTS OR FRUIT OR SPICES TO A PACKET OF OATMEAL WITHOUT A SWEETENER I MEAN SHEESH |

You have to get all your food in the part of the store that has wood flooring instead of the nasty tile. |

Splenda is indeed bizarro sugar but I have never heard the diabeetus d-d-d-diabeetus link.
Splenda is great in lots of things! But not so great in lots of other things. At any rate it's like five thousand times better than all the other fake sugars. |

Wikipedia told me that it's actually completely okay for diabeetus people to eat Splenda so maybe I am just spouting a conspiracy. But I am pretty sure that it can do negative things too. |

I'm pretty sure all of the horrible chemicals we eat can do negative things but uh I've got nothing |
