I "got" it until they started walking with giganto legs in the Mexican wrestler-head/helicopter. |

I suppose the main reason it's so excellent is that there's all those years of non-Mexican magical realism Achewoods for this to be a wacky turn from. Although on second thought I just think it's pretty damned brilliant. This may rival the Great Outdoor Fight. |

achewood is so good it should have its own forum here
in fact maybe we could turn the 'Steve's #1 fan forum where you can talk about the 80s' into an achewood forum. talking about the 80s is pretty lame anyway. |

I love it when Achewood starts doing surreal/creepy things like this. It is unsettling yet somehow seems not uncharacteristic of Achewood.
Speaking of Achewood, has anyone here read the subscriber-only comics? I want to know if they are worth paying for. |

So the helicopter has Mexican magic realism? Evidently it is Mexican (or else piloted most times by the Brothers Chaps), but I don't see how eerie Tripod legs or a man vomiting forever are manifestations of Ray and Bensington's deepest desires or true feelings or whatever it is that Mexcian magic realism is supposed to do.
I get the feeling the correct answer is "all will be revealed shortly." |

So... you're saying, it's Mexican, and it's magical realism, and the last like ten comics have been about Mexican Magical Realism but... you don't want to jump to any conclusions about whether the current events of the story are or are not Mexican Magical Realism? |

Holler has a point.
I-It's not like Mexican magic realism just means "having to do with manifestations of one's deepest desires"? |

I think A Bear is just maybe under the impression from the previous comics that Mexican magical realism only makes things do your deepest desires because that is basically all that the previous comics have covered in this regard. |

I thought Mexican Magic Realism was an invention of Mr. Onstad, and therefore he decided exactly what it was? To quote the best movie ever: "I was misinformed." |

M-maybe this has to do with Besington Butters and Ray's relationship?
Anyway, I really think we need an Achewood forum. |

Part of the reason I started this subforum is because the unofficial Achewood forum is
- hella weird
- hella anal
- hella self-promoting (for a while, every time there was an online interview with Onstad, the owner guy would get the first post and be all "hey, check out the forum" which I found DISTASTEFUL. |

Its flavor did not please the dinosaur.
Were I more familiar with the style of Anthony Lane's reviews, I would start a thread wherein people review their own or each other's lives in the manner of such as Anthony Lane. |

| Quote: |
| What can you say about a civilization where people zip from one solar system to the next as if they were changing their socks but where a woman fails to register for an ultrasound, and thus to realize that she is carrying twins until she is about to give birth? Mind you, how Padmé got pregnant is anybody’s guess, although I’m prepared to wager that it involved Anakin nipping into a broom closet with a warm glass jar and a copy of Ewok Babes. After all, the Lucasian universe is drained of all reference to bodily functions. Nobody ingests or excretes. Language remains unblue. Smoking and cursing are out of bounds, as is drunkenness, although personally I wouldn’t go near the place without a hip flask. Did Lucas learn nothing from “Alien” and “Blade Runner”—from the suggestion that other times and places might be no less rusted and septic than ours, and that the creation of a disinfected galaxy, where even the storm troopers wear bright-white outfits, looks not so much fantastical as dated? What Lucas has devised, over six movies, is a terrible puritan dream: a morality tale in which both sides are bent on moral cleansing, and where their differences can be assuaged only by a triumphant circus of violence. Judging from the whoops and crowings that greeted the opening credits, this is the only dream we are good for. We get the films we deserve. |
