I bought a box of vinyls and there was some great stuff but some of it is just a little too odd for me. Lots of motivational speaking and some steel drums stuff and even cockatiel training.
Among some of the stuff I don't plan on keeping:
Chinese & Vietnamese folk music
Jimmy Swaggart live from Nashville
How to use Tact & Skill in Handling People
Hungarian language instruction
all ears - 10 new and original song hits with a CB (radio) theme
a record filled with math problems
a record of old Air Force recruitment spots
and lots more!
if you want them I can deliver them if you're in the area or ship them if you pay for the cost. |

I bought these off a guy who had previously bought them from WFMU, which already has a blog, so I think it would be redundant. |

I would love a couple of those... specifically Tact and Skill, Hungarian, Math problems, and recruitment spots.
Not if it will cost crazy monies, though... can you figure out how much it would cost to ship a few to Toronto? |

I wish. Though the record player I have is equipped with a tape deck so I might be able to record it onto a cassette and then digitize it in the future. FYI here is a list of the records that I am not keeping (I only kept about 1/3 of the ones I bought).
The math one seems pretty popular so I'll have to decide what to do with that, as I also have a couple of friends asking for it and some of these. Andrew I don't know how much it would cost but I imagine it wouldn't be much for just a few of them.
[1] Magic Formula for Selling Yourself: A Personal Success Planner 7LP set in nice folder (Success Motivation Institute)
[2] Mauwehu Council Boy Scout Band (BRC)
[4] The Sounds of History “The Great Age of Change” (Time Life) - Songs and narrations about America (first track is Elanor Roosevelt talking about the day her husband died)
[6] Frank Chacksfield “Velvet” (London, no outer jacket)
[7] Various Artists “All Ears: 10 New and Original Hits with a CB Theme” (Realistic)
[8] Airborne All the Way (Gold Star) - some information and instructions for paratrooper training
[10] Vietnam 10” (?)
[14] Eddie Albert “Sings and Narrates America” (Wonderland)
[16] Ferrante and Teicher “The Enchanted World Of…” (United Artists)
[17] Manners at School (Family Filmstrips) - also, Manners on the Playground
[18] Allegra “Music from the Heartland” (Ric Kay) - Hippie music
[19] Manners While Visiting Friends (Family Filmstrips)
[21]Getting Through to the Hard of Hearing (Zenith)
[23] Aaltje Van Denburg “How the Holly Bears the Berry” (Van Ayr) - Christmas hymns and stuff
[24] The Automotive Performance Opportunity (private press)
[26]Chinese Folk Music (New Wave)
[28] Una Pequena Serenata con Tuna (private press)
[29] How to Use Tact and Skill in Handling People (Success Motivation Institute)
[31]The Sun Islanders Steel Orch. “Barbados Steel Drums” (Fiesta)
[32] USAF Recruiter LP (USAF) -- thinking I might actually keep this one
[33] Basic Elementary Mathematics Facts (Educational Activities)
[34] Successful Route Selling “Success Motivation Institute)
[35] Hungarian Language Course (Conversaphone)
[37] Ella Jenkins “You Sing a Song and I’ll Sing a Song” (Folkways) - Urban Gateway Children's Chorus
[39] Joe Reed “Have You Kissed any Frogs Today” (House Top) - Former NFLer Joe Reed!
[41] Nonesuch Guide to Electronic Music 2LP (Nonesuch) - sample of various waves, beeps, and tones. Comes with a book detailing EVERYTHING about electronic tones.
[42] Jimmy Swaggart “Live from Nashville” 2LP (Jim)
[43] Complete Cockatiel Training Album (Pet). - teaches your cockatiel whistling tunes and phrases
[44] Chilling Sounds of the Haunted House (Disneyland). - some seriously disturbing shit
So right now I will reserve the Chinese/Vietnamese folk music, the Hungarian lesson, tact & skill for you guys and I'll see what my friend here would want and I'll try to divvy them out accordionly. |

i'd be interested in:
8, 18, 19, 31, & 41
if it really comes down to it, my top pick out of those would be 41 |

if your record player has male rca audio it's easy to attach female rca to male 1/8th stereo to your soundcard and record with audacity, I've done it for some of my vinyl. |

I have paypal but easter cards would be way more fun.
43 is really weird. One side is whistled tunes and the other is a woman repeating phrases like "Hey Baby." "I love you."
Also, I've decided I do not really care for the Anthology of Negro Poets so that's available now. Gotta see what my friend is gonna want to grab tomorrow, but I'm making sure to set aside most of the ones you guys asked for. |

Since the math one is so popular, I say you give it someone who will digitize it and COMPUTERPIRACYINTERNET it to the rest of us. |

I will do this with the vinyls i receive, if any.
I know that out of the list, 17 is the only one I think is neat that nobody else has chosen. |

that is a good idea I'll investigate this possibility since I'm also trying to do that with the Air Force one. The Vietnam 10" is just classic Vietnamese music. I was thinking of keeping it but couldn't imagine myself ever listening to it. I kept a record of Pakistani music cuz I figure I can listen to it when I cook curry (I feel like I'm in a real restaurant!), but the Vietnamese stuff just isn't my style. |

That's not the same as the Vietnam/Chinese Folk music, right? Cause that's the only other one I like that nobody's picked yet. |

I think I should have clarified that Vietnamese/Chinese folk music were two seperate things. One is Vietnamese (the 10") and one is Chinese. SORRY. I set them both aside though because I thought you knew that |

Alright, sweet. if IIR doesn't want the vietnamese one, then, I'll order both (and #17), as soon as cost / address stuff is all set. |

I'm taking a bunch of these over to my friend today. He's going to digitize a few of the more interesting records and I'll share them on here so that if you don't get it, you at least have it available to you for amusement purposes. Hopefully that won't take him too long so I can start shipping these out. Maybe tomorrow I'll make a list of what's going where.
Shipping is approximately:
USA: $3 + $1.50 for each additional record (be aware of 2 LP sets)
Canada: $4 + $2 for each additional record |
