Haha!
I played a lot of these games when I was a kid. I got stuck in Space Quest 1 once when I had to put a floppy disk in a computer to progress. I typed PUT DISK IN DRIVE. This frase worked before, so I figured it would work again; it didn't. I typed those words so many times, the letters on my keyboard faded.
(hug THE totally friggin' DISKDRIVE didn't work either)
Then after like a day of trying I got frustrated, quit the game and deleted it.
Later...
At some family thing, I talked to my uncle, who had got me game, and I told him I got stuck. He said "oh you just have to type: INSERT DISK". It worked and I was all like: "Whoo! Progress is made!"
I got stuck again some time later on something I don't remember.
This was 15 or so years ago and I've remembered it word for word. That means there's this part of my brain that's been spending the last 15 years remembering: INSERT DISK, INSERT DISK..... |

If it's "drove" I think it means I was all innocent and sweet before Space Quest and if I'd never played it I would be fine.
"Led" more or less implies I was already going downhill. Space Quest just showed me the way to evil and I was all but eager to accept it's teachings.
So I think it's drove (I used to be a good person).

IWJ: That was truly inspiring! It's like that scene in "Big" where Tom Hanks's character has an epiphany when he figures out how to kill the magician.
