The Cardigans - First Band On The Moon
Just because I heard "Lovefool" on a song compilation of moments in The Office. Hasn't disappointed me! A bit more laid back than Gran Turismo.
The Middle East - The Recordings Of The Middle East
Really love this one, especially the first track. It's beautiful acoustic folk. |

Just checked out two best-of collections from the library, one for Chicago and one for David Bowie. They're both pretty good, although I've mostly listened to the Bowie album. |

The Lonely Island - Incredibad. I am horrible for buying this and even more horrible for waiting for 3 hours to get it signed by them. But I like it.
Also:
Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavilion
Dark Was The Night
Robby Roadsteamer - I Solved Every Miniquest |

I love this album. Have you heard Wind In The Wires? I think I like it even more than TMP. He has a new album out this summer I think. Should be good.
I relocated my copy of The Inevitable Rise and Liberation of NiggyTardust! by Saul Williams the other day. 'Twas even better than I remembered it being, although I still think his second album is the peak of his career so far. Saw him live last year which was exhilarating to say the least. |

A used copy of Neil Young - Rust Never Sleeps on LP and a used Snuff CD titled Flibbiddydibbiddydob. The LP is fantastic- maybe my favourite Neil Young record- but the Snuff one is sorta crap. But what can I say? They were a favourite of mine in high school and the CD cost me only $2.50. That's nostalgia at a great price! |

Um, just emusic-ed Black Monk Time by The Monks and Suicide by... Suicide. Both are things I have been meaning to check out for a long time, and both are pretty great. |

Yeah, I pretty much agree with that. Like, it really seems like something I would like in theory, but in practice I'm just sort of underwhelmed. Maybe it's too gay. |

BUT i am in the right mood at the moment and i <3 morrissey |

I had no idea there was new Dan Deacon, I'll have to check that out. And with Heroes, if such a thing is possible it looks like I might just grab the few tracks I'd be interested in hearing off itunes (and I might not even do that normally were it not a charity comp).
I am on a cd-swap program now and the first couple things I got sent my way were:
And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead - Source Tags And Codes
Hooverphonic - Blue Wonder Power Milk.
Also, I don't have HBO and have been avoiding watching clips online so to not spoil things when the next Flight Of The Conchords dvd comes out, but I did cave and download "Carol Brown" off itunes. |

the thing with the heroes disc is some of the better songs are ones i wouldn't have taken the time to get were i just picking and choosing. lilly allen, duffy, and estelle are all artists i don't pay any attention to but their contributions are pretty good (estelle's is basically the exact same as the original but its still better than other tracks that are the exact same as the original). That elbow/u2 song is pretty ok too. |

I like the new Dan Deacon way more than Spiderman of the Rings atm
It's possible that I just didn't pay enough attention to Spiderman though |

Bought:
Neko Case - Middle Cyclone (p. good)
The Gaslight Anthem - The 59 Sound (bought on impulse because it was cheap and I like the title track. On first listen it is pretty okay, but every song kind of sounds the same)
More cd swap stuff
Nine Inch Nail - The Downward Spiral
Soundgarden - Down On The Upside
I got into a minor "reliving my musical tastes circa high school" thing I guess?
Going to try and stop myself from buying albums for at least a month now (relying entirely on emusic, cd swap and the like). |

I went into the CD super-store in town today, and they had all these albums by Bert Jansch and associated acts for only $10 each; and so I bought Pentangle, by the Pentangle, and Bert & John, by Bert Jansch and John Renbourn. Pentangle I'd already heard, and my high opinion of it has not been challenged. Bert & John is interesting, if you like elaborate dual-guitar harmonics and barely-recognisable covers of "Goodbye Pork Pie Hat" (and let's face it: who doesn't?). Indications are I would have been better served by Jack Orion, but I'm not too fussed with how things turned-out.
I've also been listening a lot to Otis Blue. It's one of those strange albums where even the elements I dislike - in this instance, Redding's tendency to let his voice wander about with a complete disregard for the rhythm - somehow manage to endear the work to me as a whole. I'm not sure which side I come down on with the Cooke vs. Redding "A Change Is Gonna Come" debate, but it's a brilliant song in either incarnation. I also really love his version of "My Girl", but I really love that song anyway. |

i thought that same thing, and still do, but multiple listens reveal at least some variance that isnt heard at first, imo. |
