Hey, I was at the comic book shop and I found this excellent book of single-panel non-Peanuts comics done by Charles M. Schulz!

The subject he decides to tackle: teen-agers! [sic]

On the offhand chance anyone finds these as amusing as I do, I'll post one a week for discussion.

The cover says it's the Peanuts gang grown up.

Maybe those two are Charlie and Sally.

This is so great!!!! I think that's Marcy making the sign on the cover! Oh man! Cheston, one a day plz. The one up right now is so scathing! Those intentionally slovenly teen-agers!

Ha ha, yeah, in addition to assailing what teenagers consider "dressed up," is it also implying that rolling up sweatshirt sleeves was a thing? A teenager thing?

I agree the sign maker is probably Marcy. There are certainly cases where the Peanuts gang are present, but it doesn't focus heavily on who they were.
When I called it non-Peanuts, that's the same degree to which TaleSpin is non-Jungle-Book.

As for regularity, sure, I'll increase it to one a day. Just be prepared to excuse me if I miss some days.

do you suppose he'll roll down the sleeves of his pants as well, or is that only for formal events, such as church?

Funny you should say that.
There are a LOT of church-related ones.

schultz did a sports strip for a while which

i dunno, seems very peanuts but at the same time not really up to par
maybe everyone needs crushing depression to be funny

would make sense re: the teen-agers

except for earmuffs not being a thing any more, that sideburns strip holds up pretty well imo

If earmuffs made a comeback, I wouldn't mind.

These comics were made for a church magazine.

You have information about them literally having been made for a church magazine, or are you just saying they'd be perfect for one?

This is the only one where the corresponding Peanuts character seems especially relevant (imo).

Incidentally, using Google to verify Eidam's claim led me to inadvertently discover the publication date of this material.

I won't share it, because I feel somewhat disillusioned myself.

Anyway, one thing interesting I note here is that those poles with the three rotating lights must have been a thing way earlier than I would have guessed. I thought they were kinda "furniture a person buys at Target when starting college."

Hey, it's not that I didn't trust you.
I just wanted to see with my own Google-y eyes.

As for the year, it's not printed anywhere in the book, and I was curious about it.
It was a rather neat mystery, picking up on clues here and there.
Now for me there is no mystery. Don't let the same thing happen to you!

iirc they were only labelled "grown up peanuts!" and stuff as an afterthought on books and stuff??

then again some of those folks definitely look similar so maybe it's kinda like how
sonty mick and shadow n chug show up sometimes in unwinder's comic
