i think rushmore is the only good one
although i liked the darjeeling limited, i'm not sure if maybe the characters were less terrible or he just tricked me somehow

royal tenenbaums seems to be the most popular i thought but was way too obnoxious/gimmickridden
and the life aquatic was just boring and soulless imo
a more sophisticated/skillful garden state

I've only seen The Royal Tennenbaums and Moonrise Kingdom, but I did enjoy both of them.

What in the hell is there to like about The Life Aquatic? I was literally embarrassed for everyone involved with that movie, except maybe for Bud Cort. The scene where Owen Wilson dies is so, so bad. All of the acting is terrible. Even Cate Blanchett is bad in it!

all wes anderson movies are bad (haven't seen fantastic mr. fox or moonrise kingdom but the trailers make them look bad)
but I would maybe watch bottlerocket again
if like
I didn't have to spend more than a minute looking for the dvd
but I think I'd have to spend more than a minute

All Wes Anderson movies are good but I think my favorite is Fantastic Mr. Fox just because it's probably the least serious/depressing.

i guess i thought the 3-ish main characters took themselves and their sadness/bafflement or whatever so seriously
and the movie seemed to also
but nothing/nobody else

Garden State is barf.
It's possible I should give it The Mummy's spot in that five worst films thread.

No Wes Andy flick is that bad for sure.

I do think I need to give Life Aquatic another watch, because it didn't thrill me 100% the first time, and I'm a big fan of Wes's other movies and they usually grow on me.

My favorite is Rushmore.
Moonrise Kingdom seemed completely awesome after watching only once, so I look forward to watching that one again to see if it rivals Rushmore.
The only of his movies I've not seen is Darjeeling.

Bottle Rocket is my favorite one, and I also like Fantastic Mr. Fox.

I don't really have a strong opinion on any of the other ones.

I have seen hardly any but i r like Fantastic Mr Fox. I think I could watch it over and over the way kids watch movies (not tested - I've only seen it twice)

I really like the way the characters move, and the disconnected way they deliver dialogue. It is so awkward and pleasant.

I was hanging out with someone who was remarking on the way "cuss" is used instead of cusses. Somehow she thought this was unfunny? that it detracted from the movie?

Liz kind of got into his movies a bit so I recently rewatched Royal Tennenbaums and Life Aquatic, in addition to seeing Moonrise Kingdom and Darjeeling for the first time.

Over all I think I like the Life Aquatic the most because it has the most Bill Murray per capita.

I always took the slightly affected not really super-acting to be a deliberate choice and something that offers kind of a contrast to traditional acting in some ways. Sort of... intentionally bad? But done so that those moments of real emotion kind of break through a bit more profoundly. I really like Gweneth Paltrow in TRT, mostly for this reason.

the only time a film has had what would be to me
"real emotion"
was Office Space re:
how happy it feels to just
give up on something

But for the rest of the universe that would be a pretty lame movie.
