Hot Tub Time Machine. Mostly unfunny.

SPOILERS. So in the end the minds of Adam, Jacob and Nick end up in the bodies of their 2010 selves in the hot tub. And Lou must have figured that would happen since he had a message for them waiting in the hotel. Which means that somehow Lou must have convinced the second-timeline Adam, Jacob and Nick to travel to that hotel and get in the hot tub at the right moment. And also convinced them not to click on the computer first.

So basically they killed the minds of their second-timeline-selves, and had them replaced them with the minds of the original-timeline-selves. Didn't Lou have any trouble with this? He killed his own son that he had known for 24 years. But he seemed perfectly happy abouy it. Was his second-timeline son a total dick?

Watched most of "Enter the Dragon" tonight and it rules. Probably the best decision I have made about anything in a long time.

Also watched "Night of the Comet" not long ago and it also ruled.

What if the child was killed by a banana cream pie?

I've been working through a Humphrey Bogart box set. Watched Key Largo and The Treasure of the Sierra Madre again for the first time in ages. I love watching Edward G. Robinson as a villain, what with being used to his roles as tough cops in the forties, and then getting to watch Bogart as the villain, turning all his famous mannerisms into something creepy and desperate. Also think Walter Huston's character may be the ultimate dude.

Tommy! Key Largo features boating prominently! So does To Have and Have Not, for that matter.

Anyway, I'm probably going to follow all this up with The Man Who Would Be King. Does anyone have any other good recommendations for adventure films?

Bogey started out playing heavies, so it probably wasn't much of a stretch for him to go back. Check out "The Petrified Forest" and "High Sierra" for more of that. Oh, and later in his career he played a home invader who takes a family hostage in "The Desperate Hours", as well as a megalomaniacal sea captain who must be taken down at all costs in "The Caine Mutiny".

Note: Not all of these movies are that good. But "High Sierra" and "The Desperate Hours" are pretty good imo.

Also The African Queen has both Bogart and the eponymous boat

That's kind of why I like it - Bogart and Robinson both doing villain parts during the largely non-villainous stretch of their career.

I'm sure I've seen High Sierra, but I can't remember much beyond its being watchable and having Bogart and a mountain. Speaking of Bogart's villainous turns - have you seen The Return of Doctor X? It pops up on pay TV from time to time, but I've never managed to catch it.

I was trying to write an african queen post while watching the movie
but the movie was too boring so I stopped watching it and abandoned the post
(no pun intended!)

I saw Tombstone as a special screening at our local independent film place. So good.

Indiana Jones 1-3, Romancing the stone. Princess Bride maybe, but I haven't seen it since I was a kid, maybe it sucks.

I saw a film at the cinema last night, on my own and I was literally the only non-staff person in the building. They kept the whole she-bang running for my £4.50 student ticket. It was a very surreal experience.

(I saw the late-night showing of Harry Potter. I am not ashamed.)

It was a late showing, mid-week. It finished at about 00:45. Children have to be abed before that time.

Saw Harry Potter. What else is there to say?

Key Largo is a pretty fun film, but you can really tell it was a stage play adaptation.

I saw Kick-Ass, which is hilarious and wonderful, Lost in La Mancha, which made me want to hit Terry Gilliam, and Shooters, which is a starts-good-then-gets-a-bit-crap-and-then-gets-good-again-and-then-the-ending's-rubbish crime drama and almost entirely lacking in nudity.

final review of Being John Malkovich: this movie was a lot of fun, although it was strange.

Watching Trainspotting now.
