you're making me picture K-On, but with computers

can't have them eating cake, though, since you're not allowed to have snacks near the computers

okay, I'm gonna be square with you guys: I've never actually seen K-On. All I know is it involves girls and they eat cake sometimes?

S-should I see K-On? I mean if it's streaming somewhere I can watch it before work.

I do like
the messages bakemonogatari + nisemonogatari seems to send about
sexuality even if it is via
things I for the most part don't find
arousing

So I watched a cheapo copy of the new Lupin show on Youtube

I was kinda hoping it wouldn't be too titty-prone, since I'd like to be able to watch this at work, but... ah well. (And anyways it doesn't look like it's streaming anywhere, either, which puts another nail in the coffin of that plan.)

Overall I liked it? I mean, I don't think it was as original or as great as the internet seems to think but then the internet always blows things out of proportion anyway.
And it was really well-animated. I particularly liked the fight between Fujiko and Lupin near the end.
It also seems like something that'd play really well on Adult Swim (I mean, once you cut out most of the titties).

So yeah, I think this could be the start of something special over here.

Two things I wanna talk about:

1.) David Cabrera's new Letters from the New York Otaku column is pretty great. It's intended for a(n imaginary?) Japanese audience, so the columns mostly deal with stuff American dudes'd find obvious, but there are still some real gems here, like the one where he talks about where we got the term "weeabo":
Quote:
“Weeaboo” was a nonsense word used once in an online gag comic (The Perry Bible Fellowship) which we all enjoyed. My friend thought that if he just replaced the word “Wapanese” with something meaningless, that it would fall out of use by necessity. That's not what happened.

2.) this nichijou amv is pretty damn baller

So hey it turns out I've missed like 20 episodes of Galaxy Express 999.

Will be fixing that ASAP.

I bought the DVD of Bakemonogatari and I think it's missing some of the intro songs.

So has anyone been wathcing the Woman named Fujiko Mine?

It's the first Lupin media I've ever really consumed and it's super fucking amazing. The last episode I watched had amazing older woman/younger woman stuff that turned into an even greater spoiler thing.

But yeah, it's pretty much been the only thing I'm actively keeping up with this season. I did recently watch the Speed Grapher on Netflix and it's pretty unintentionally funny. Liz and I also gave some show about anthropomorphized guns a shot and it was a bit much even for me and I'm some kind of horrible internet pervert.

Not only are they little girls representing guns, they're also having orgasms because of the firefights.

feel weird about liking it think
how understated it is makes up for the fact that it is basically
100% memey shit

some of this Tiger & Bunny merchandise is pretty tempting

but especially this Chibi-Arts Blue Rose with its bottle of Pepsi

also I'm pretty glad that this is discontinued so I don't spend $50+ on a
god
damn
hat

That is actually a pretty nice hat. You actually wouldn't look like a dork to most people.

Just to other Tiger and Bunny viewers.

That worked out hilariously, because the way I scrolled, I stopped and only saw the girls. Then I scrolled a bit more, and KotH. Great reveal.

I still haven't finished Monster despite it being on youtube for free. I got to episode 60 once a few years ago and when I rediscovered it online I thought, "I'll watch it all from the beginning!" and got like 10 eps in before losing track and forgetting again.

Fuck. And its so good too.

I thought Monster was incredibly boring... But I think I maybe only saw like 10 or so episodes of it before everyone in Anime Club wanted to watch something more exciting, and that was like 4 years ago. I might like it now, but eh.
