I like how some of the bad guys are so revolting that they actually generate physical revulsion in me. The blond prince guy is hideous.

I just watched episode 4 (or was it 5? it was where Lady Stark gets a tavern to seize Tyrion at the end of it).

Anyway I am p. interested in the show - I stand by my "it's not mindblowing" statement, but that is not to say that I don't think the show is any good. It is entertaining and I am enjoying the story line of that brother/sister who want to take back the throne. Mostly because she's gone from a weak girl with no voice to scaring the pants off her brother.

Even you, sgower, with your discerning taste, have been swayed - everyone should be watching this.

also played "Brother of Mine" in that two-parter Doctor Who episode where he turns into John Smith with that pocketwatch

does he only play crazy people or what

Hey, I have just watched some of this show (I just finished episode six).

It seems pretty good.

What medium are you guys using to watch it?

I have torrented it, and my almost-father-in-law was like, "Oh no, you don't want to torrent HBO shows. They will actually notice."

I hear that about HBO shows and major motion pictures. You can usually set up your client to download and use IP address blacklists, which can mitigate that risk. However, some dudes will probably know what you did anyway.

Oh hey so I got HBO Go and watched the first season. Now I'm almost done with the second book and am pretty sucked into it.

I think this sums up the books pretty well. They're really solid popcorn-type books that have a very well written story with engaging characters that isn't going to really challenge anybody reading it beyond a few unexpected turns of event.

Watched the first few seasons and then read the books. I agree, fun romp. Obviously after reading the books I think they're superior, but that's what everyone things of every adaptation. The show is fine throwaway fun too.

Frank Miller's wrote another Batman that's literally subtitled "the master race". Does anyone still take him seriously? He's on record being an angry right wing bigot and racist. If anyone ends up reading it I'm curious as to how that manifests in "the master race" I'm definitely not reading him again though

Didn't know that about Frank Miller, but somehow it isn't surprising.

Hey, if anyone wants to "go viral," I'll bet people would "re-tweet" and "like" a video compilation of Game of Thrones deaths set to The Jim Carroll Band's "People Who Died."

Started reading that out of curiosity and
as someone that has never read the books or seen the show
it sounds like this show suffers from the sort of stuff that makes movies terrible att

At the end of seaspn 3 of this. For all the talk of beloved characters being kiled off, the only people to die so far have been either boring or to stupid to live. Like, i get the feeling Martin just went "Ugh, I'm tired of this bullshit" and threw-out all the lamest characters in the most ott way possible.

Watching season 4. The Daenerys stuff is boring. The pay-off had better be good.

Also Daenerys' blonde hair looks stupid. I saw the actress on a talk show where she had hair that looked real and realised 50% of why I find her character boring is her hair.

Also Game of Thrones is so_so when sober but definitely the best show to watch when drinking.
