I recently rented Stand by Me from the local video shop, I had always known it was based on a steven king novella, and when I watched it, it seemed to definately have his stamp on it, it was not scary horror, like a knife wielding maniac stalking teens, but it was a horror sort of movie on its own, dealing a lot with death. There is death running all through it. They're going to go look at a dead kid, the main guy's brother's died in a jeep accident, and his best friend winds up getting stabbed in the neck.

I've rented that movie three times and each time I stop watching after he pretends to be an exterminator so as to infiltrate her apartment. I'm not sure why I stop, since I like the film up to that point. I guess it was probably a different reason each time.

Maybe I should make a short David Lynch homage about my mysterious inability to complete Blue Velvet.

With the exception of Mulholland Dr I strongly dislike Lynch, but I do like what Slavoj Žižek did with his films in the Pervert's Guide to Cinema

David Lynch's best film was clearly Dune.

I really wish someone would give that man the money to make another over-budgeted sci-fi epic.

Respectfully disagreeing and nominating Eraserhead for Best David Lynch Film '09.
Even though it's that one movie that a lot of the pretentious film school types I've come into contact with bring up relentlessly so as to affirm that they are interested in non mainstream cinema.
But I think in a way it's kind of mainstream now...?

Anyway I really liked it.

Maybe because it was over hyped? I stumbled across the movie and enjoyed it because I knew nothing about it and was just flicking through channels. I think trailers spoil movies big time these days they reveal way too much. Movies are SO much better when you don't know anything about them. Also I wish I was part of a old generation so the Darth Vader "I am your father" scene would come as a surprise.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

I liked the movie okay but there are so many aspects of it that are way too disappointing when compared to Goblet of Fire (which I think is my favourite Potter film...though Azkaban is neck & neck). I think the number one thing that is most disappointing is Sirius appearing in the flames in Order of the Phoenix vs Goblet of Fire. Was done so much better in Goblet of Fire. Also the Dementors were done much better in Azkaban than in Order of the Phoenix.

I know, I know, "different directors"

Kronos

It's a surprisingly well-thought-out well-played-out movie about a hilarious terrifying space box, and it is worth seeing.

is that a movie about klingons?

anyway tyler I just preferred the movie version of events in goblet of fire than the book. It seemed more logical I guess?

Boorishly may have reviewed it for his blog but I read that sporadically and I'm too lazy to check

Okay but you said that you thought the 4th movie was better than the 5th movie, which is objectively not true, unless you are a Twilight fan.
