Xylo I'm not a particularly good moderation, and in any case this place was unmoderated for so long that whenever I do it it feels heavy-handed and never works well. I can accept that this is place that doesn't like moderation, but that being the case I'm not really comfortable sending new people here. Besides, by the time a post is deleted it's usually too late anyway!

I'm not saying everyone here is the same way, but there were just too many times where new people were made to feel unwelcome by some.

there are also one or two people that occasionally make non-new people feel unwelcome as well! This explanation makes sense to me.

I understand not liking that new people get flamed sometimes and I also understand not wanting to moderate. What I'm saying is that it smarts a little to be dropped and then have all the blame be on the few bad apples when a much more appropriate explanation would be that you're unwilling to suck it up and sometimes be "the bad guy" or appoint someone else to be "the bad guy" and deal with the problem. And if you're not willing to do that and would rather keep the forum unmoderated at least don't use the excuse that sometimes people is mean and it makes you feel bad (it makes some of us feel bad too but we don't have any way of stopping it) when the real problem is your choice not to do anything about it.

He made us a new sandbox to play in and loves us so he let us go. We aren't particularly representative of Dinosaur Comics as a community in any case as the relationships fostered here came to eclipse whatever the impetus was that spurred anyone to join.

Sure there's little way to help how you feel, but I'm sure Ryan didn't mean it as an insult and just did both what he felt would be best for our community and his fans at large, Xylo.

I guess Ryan's kinda being nice because most of the time when this happens the dude who runs the forum just closes it down.

If he had said that that was the reason it would have made a lot more sense (and I probably wouldn't have felt so insulted). But he didn't say that's why; he said it was because new people were treated badly.

Not to speak on his behalf, but I'd imagine it's easier to blame to trolls than to suggest we don't like DC any more. Because then we'd just be like: "BUT WE DO LIKE DC!" and it'd be like Old Yeller for Ryan, tbqh.

How about "Hey guys I don't come here much anymore and the forum isn't really centered around DC comics anymore so I think I'm going to take the link off of the DC page; no hard feelings okay?!?" I'm not sure anyone could really argue with that or how that's a lot harder than blaming trolls.

Still there should be another admin. And I don't think it should be tyler because while tyler is cool, I'm afraid he might hate someone I like and then ban that person and then I'd be mad at tyler.

It's okay. I guess really more than anything I wish people weren't jerks to the new people just because they're new and I'm disappointed the only person who could really do anything about it rather wouldn't. :classicsad:
