Yes, this is a direct Fun Home parody.

Drazahoib and his friend wrote and illustrated it, and I just filled in the Unwinder parts, so he is the one that should be suspected of having actually written Fun Home.

A couple things:

The last page of the Fun Home parody is not just a senseless reference that you shouldn't infer anything from! It is sort of a joke on the affect-less tone that Bechdel has throughout her book. And the sort of weird things that end up in any biography, which make the whole endeavor of doing a biography on a parent kind of creepy.

I like to imagine that Unwinder will have a lot of soul searching to do now. It is maybe kind of funny to me that he responded more like a son would normally respond to this than Warren did.

I realize that this is me adding things that are probably not in the comic itself!

But I guess I just like to fantasize that Gary has slowly become like a father to Unwinder. Sometimes he embarrasses him, sometimes they disagree, but Unwinder looks to him to understand the world. And I think has a real sort of affection for him, underneath it all!

I r. enjoyed this comic. I ended up just taking the ending as being general disgust of the picture (re: Gary has a huge package etc), plus I sort of assumed that was like the last page of the book, and would thus be a rather let down of an ending.

It seemed really obvious to me a lot of the joke here is just that Unwinder would never under any circumstances want to see Gary's dong.

Gary P. Rastov is practically my favorite UTC character, so it was nice to see more of the guy. My favorite part was Unwinder wondering if he's just been reading Gary's decorating tips.
