What? Nah, The Avengers was good.

I watched Ghostbusters last night.
A local theater got a 35mm print.

It is definitely still a great movie. Having it on the big screen is pretty sweet, but having random audience members who have different values about when to laugh or say things is kind of a bummer.

The worst part was when a phone rang in the movie (old bell-sounding style) and I heard some person in the back of the theater call it "obnoxious." >:[

the
chase thing near the beginning was the worst thing I've ever seen in a movie
the rest wasn't any different from any other shitty movie except it had worse jokes

The avengers was decent, I have my issues with it, but enjoyable. But the whole first section before the building blows up is 100% unadulterated shit

I think Avengers was the first movie I've seen where in the middle of it I started thinking "man these people sure are talking a lot" but I liked it just fine.

Too bad, but not at all surprising after seeing the trailer.

No, that's not quite the important part.

Go see The Cabin in the Woods before before your expectations for it get inflated or before word of mouth starts getting annoying and you feel obligated to hate it.

I managed to avoid everything about this movie for over two months while I waited for it to come out over here

it was
totally worth it

I thought it was good. The premised was excellent, but it wasn't executed as well as it could be.

The second to last movie I watched was Good Will Hunting. I'd not really sat down and watched it properly before (without ad breaks and channel hopping). It was OK. It was touching, and I was in the right mood to be affected by it, but it just felt.. accidentally good? Like as if a bunch of 16 year olds put on a production of Macbeth with a tiny budget and the resultant show was stark and raw and good-considering. I don't know, this is just what I was thinking after it finished.

The last movie I watched was V for Vendetta. I saw it when it was released, and it was good then, but it was even better on a second viewing. One of the scenes actually gave me that horrible sudden sinking awfulness feeling and made me feel legitimately unhappy.

I want to see Cabin in the Woods but I don't really like horror films. Should I watch it?

I don't really like horror films either. There's a lot of fairly cartoonish goreyness, and some surprise violence moments, but not much legitimately scary.

I clicked that link and was like, "Oh, it's an audio link," so I put on my headphones and adjusted the volume.

Andrew I would be more inclined to say it was the other way around - a kind of cheesy premise executed excellently. But then I love horror movies so r enjoyed all the references they crammed in in those last scenes.

I just got back from Cabin in the Woods! I really liked it, but I was scared even though it's not supposed to be scary.

I went and saw Prometheus on Monday. It was very pretty to look at, scary and exciting at times, and it had enough of everything to keep me entertained and thinking about stuff long after I left the cinema. One thing that's kind of cool is that in a way it manages to integrate a lot of the stuff that got thrown out (I think - I'm not really certain) of Dan O'Bannon's original script, which makes it more of a '50s-throwback sort of movie and also gives a plot that bears even more resemblance to At the Mountains of Madness than the original.

The bit in the surgery unit was pretty gross/awesome, anyway. And Michael Fassbender is great as the robot. And the giants are really cool.

I really hope there's a sequel.

Submarine. It's about a peculiar teenage boy that has a crush on a girl and stuff. It was kind of good. Watching it, I thought this is probably based on a novel and it turned out it was.

Cosmopolis. Good premise, not a very good movie. It made me have Opinions about it though, which is good, not many movies do.
