Thanks. I'm not the first person to think up that invisible people are blind. I once read a story about a scientist that managed to turn himself invisible and then it turned out that he was also blind. And then the story ended. It was like a page long. I'm not sure if the idea has been used in a longer story before.

Also, in the fourth panel today, Fusk is supposed to be wearing a cape and smoking a pipe.

There are lots of typos throughout the comic, not that I worry about such prescriptivist things, but if you'd like someone to go through and point them all out, I could use an excuse to go through the archive again.

there are not many comics where bad spelling is unimportant but hitmen is one of them

to clarify: when i started reading hitmen, the spelling was annoying and i thought it was just bad. but over time i liked the comic more and became defensive of it in an xkcdfanish way. now the spelling is really part of the charm

what i am saying is don't listen to me

Okay, I just read the whole thing and I have to say I was pretty dismayed the first time I reached for the Next button and it wasn't there.

It would have meant missing out on a lot of hilarious complications, but obviously the correct solution to the fungus story was for Jymre to hide Harriet in the closet as soon as she fainted, take her shape, and leave. He just had to get out of the cabin, everyone else can deal with the aftermath.

I hadn't thought of that. Guess it would have worked?

Have we seen that character before? And who is impersonating Rolf now?

I'd like to post a rebuttal of a review I just read: http://www.tallyroad.com/HIPPOCLEIDES DOESNT CARE/Review-Hi ... stiny.html

Some of what the reviewer (who's name I can't find) says is good, but most of it is not.

The review, in summary, says that H4D exercises the freedom that only comes when you don't write for anyone but yourself, and because Oyvind Thornsby is writing for no one but himself, the comic is terrible. I don't think this is true. I feel, and I bet many of you agree with me, that H4D is written for the type of people who really like H4D. I am that type of person. I get the jokes. I feel that the art is creative and an interesting use of the medium. I enjoy that the strips are as long as they are. I find the monsters fascinating and the plot creative and inventive. The strip is not child like, and I don't think it's full of fetishistic memes (Oyvind, is this the case?).

Basically, I think the reviewer can't see the forest through the trees.

The reviewer is absolutely correct about the freedom that Oyvind exhibits, but he doesn't like the strip, so he assumes that nobody does. He things that the art is bad and the jokes are confusing and the plot is "childish", which means that Oyvind is doing something wrong. I disagree. I think that Oyvind is doing something incredibly right.

Yeah, it's like he's mistaken Hitmen for Boston and Shaun or something. Here's what I'm guessing happened: the guy saw the first few strips, and was confused. Hitmen's in media res opening is a little confusing, to be fair. He linked his confusion with the unconventional art and thought "This is one of those crazy internet people doing their crazy internet things" and stopped trying to understand it at all, just scanning it for things he thought were weird to make his point.

He's pretty much an idiot, though, since while Hitmen doesn't make a ton of concessions for new readers, it's pretty far from inaccessible, unless you think Buffy or Star Trek are inaccessible. The whole bit where he picks out Lostclock explaining the belly monsters as being completely illogical or fetishistic is a particularly egregious case of being simple-minded, and to imply the characters aren't well-drawn or are "puppets spouting unpredictable lines" or whatever is just shows he didn't understand what he was reading. I think my fellow Hitmen fans would admit to occasional confusion about plot points and the like, though things are always eventually made clear, but they would probably not mistake a Lostclock line for an Annette line or (hilariously) something Rolf would have said for something Jymre would say.

In conclusion, his comic is terrible, and Hitmen is awesome, so who cares anyway?
